Yevgen Kazakov nominated as the new European Experiment Leader for JT-60SA

Our colleague Yevgen Kazakov has been nominated by the EuroFusion General Assembly as the new European Experiment Leader for JT-60SA. This comes at an important moment for the JT-60SA programme. Recent meetings in Naka, including researchers from Japan, EUROfusion, F4E and ITER, helped shaping the scientific agenda for the upcoming Operational Phase 2, scheduled to start at the of this year.

From OP-1 analysis to planning the 2026–2027 campaign, European and Japanese researchers are working closely together on key topics for future fusion devices, including the support for ITER.

JT-60SA remains a unique platform for strengthening Europe’s scientific capabilities and preparing the next generation of fusion researchers for the road ahead.
